The Role

The Scientist II/Senior Scientist will be responsible for evaluating mechanism of action of novel targets to inform therapeutic potential in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.  Ability to conceive and perform a variety of immune based in vitro assays including both cellular and molecular biology systems to address target specific hypotheses. Background in immunometabolism a plus.  Working within an integrated team will be essential for success.

  • Responsible for developing in vitro assays relevant to autoimmune or inflammatory diseases
  • Independently design, execute studies and perform data analyses
  • Partner with bioinformatics and metabolism scientists to design experiments and analyze and interpret data. Generate novel hypotheses and validate targets for modulation of immune cell function.
  • Innovate and establish novel technologies/platforms for interrogating immune cells in relevant microenvironments and in human patient samples
  • Participate in drug-discovery efforts including developing novel assays for compound screening and/or biomarker identification.
  • Supervise and mentor junior research staff

  • Ph.D. Cellular and Molecular Immunology, or Biochemistry
  • 1-2 years of Postdoctoral experience in immunology or immunometabolism
  • 2-5 years’ experience in research and development environment (industry experience a plus)
  • Extensive experience with in vitro immune based assays in isolating, differentiating, culturing and profiling T cell subsets.  Experience with cell types of both innate and adaptive immunity a plus.
  • Prior experience or track record in immunometabolism a huge plus
  • Ability to design and develop experimental plans for independent projects
  • Creatively apply a wide variety of scientific concepts to solve complex problems.
  • Working with highly collaborative matrixed project teams critical for success
  • Flexibility to work on multiple independent programs
  • Prior management experience directing research associates will be important.
